Diabetes CAN be Reversed -Period.

I've just recently watched the alarming documentary Forks Over Knives -a focus on the reversal of prevailing diseases caused by the SAD diet. The documentary highlights profound studies that proves how diseases such as diabetes and heart disease typically treated by drugs can be reversed and even eradicated by simply consuming life promoting foods.

So i'm viewing this documentary and the first thing i think is that I AM NEEDED! Unfortunately the eating habits of Americans and the larger global community who SADly followed suit is dire! After viewing this documentary, it also clear to me why food and drug appear together on signs of major generic grocery stores. Like drugs, food can also be an addiction for most; with sugar being the #1 addiction. It consumes us and in ways that are driving us straight to hospitals only to be told that we need to consume other types of drugs. MORE DRUGS?! It's amazing to me that people place their very lives completely in the hands of people who practice medicine and prescribe not medicine, but drugs. Here's a thought. Some of those same doctors are also taking the same or similar prescriptions they prescribed to their patients and inevitably will end up under the knife as well. The sick pandemic is a HUGE money funneling industry. I encourage everyone to make a hearty salad and have a viewing party because more often than not, the maintenance of our well being is overlooked. Which would you rather -the fork or the knife?

Tomatoes | Let's Dish...

I've concluded that most people eat with their eyes as do i. Before me sat a bowl of salsa, some green "stuff", sliced up white thangs with purple skin, empty plates, and curious onlookers from a distance waiting to see if they're going to enjoy what i put together. Intuition tells me that plating design holds lots of promise for getting people to eat things they've never tried before; especially a raw dish. Today's Fresh Farm Farmer's Market presentation featured TOMATOES -the whole lot of 'em. This fruit variety comes in many forms and has cute names to match! Brandywine, Green Zebra, Cherokee Chocolate, Green Grape, and Mortgage Lifter are just a few of the heirloom varieties. Now doesn't that make you just want to buy some or at least google 'em? Cherokee Chocolate!

Cherokee Chocolate ~ Heirloom Family

My personal best has everything to do with color, texture, and flavor. The brilliant Green Zebra!

Reason #35 why i love heirloom tomatoes. Vibrant. All that color is responsible for revitalizing your cells in so many ways.

Like most fruits and veggies (in its raw form), tomatoes come equipped with loads of nutrients some of which is responsible for preventing cancer from forming in your body. And you can enjoy them in many different applications from purees to chunks in salads or by itself. The purpose for today's demo was to showcase how customers can purchase farm goods and create easy recipes at home. And of course give them lessons on how and why eating healthy foods is best. Well i threw that part in there! It's my job. So for the Fresh Farm Farmer's Market food demo i prepared fennel tomato salsa on top of thinly sliced aubergine bites with green tomato and mint puree and balsamic vinaigrette. I get pure pleasure out of feeding people. More specifically i get pure pleasure out of feeding people life on a plate!

Come 'n get 'em...

The Succulent Ovaries ~ Figs

Fall is in season and so are figs! This overlooked fruit probably got a bad rap from being widely introduced as Fig Newtons -the dry and hollow flavored fig stuffed snack bars. Dark, shapely, succulent, and fleshy like a fine woman, figs are anything but dry and devoid of flavor. This fruit is unique in that its edible structure is actually stem tissue. The fig fruit is an inverted flower with both the male and female flower parts enclosed in stem tissue. Get this -the so-called seeds are nothing more than unfertilized ovaries that failed to develop. Fig is naturally rich in many health benefiting phyto-nutrients (plant derived nutrients necessary for sustaining life), anti-oxidants, and vitamins, which include iron, calcium, potassium, vitamin E, C, K, and at least 5 different types of B Vitamins. Papaya Power | The Papaya Lava

Loaded with essential vitamins, minerals, and enzymes, this bountiful fruit tree was known as the sacred Tree of Life by the ancient Mayan Civilization. And no wonder. When cut in half it resembles a large vagina -so moist, so bright, so filled with life giving properties. Ever heard that a food which resembles a body part assists in the maintenance of that body part? Well in this case, if consumed regularly, the papaya helps to increase the female libido. Of course! Papayas are rich in antioxidants like vitamins A and C. Papain -the papaya's powerful enzyme- is what makes this fruit a highly sought after commodity. It's extracted and put into capsules for use as a digestive aid for proteins, fats, and starches. When ripe, papayas contain more beta-carotine than carrots, and more vitamin C than kiwi fruit. As mentioned in the avocado post carotene is converted into vitamin A in our body, which does wonders for our largest organ -the skin! Papayas are abundant in bioflavonoids, which benefit the immune system and help prevent allergic reactions. An excellent source of electrolytes, papaya minerals include potassium, magnesium, and calcium. Having trouble hitting the potty regularly? The fiber from both fresh and dried papaya helps eliminate constipation.

What about the SEEDS?!!!

Yes they are edible and contain high concentrations of papain. Papaya seeds resemble large peppercorns and have a mild peppery taste. When dried in the sun, a food dehydrator, or by spreading them evenly on a try, you can use these packaged nutrients as a spice even. Is it a wonder why you find papaya elements in shampoos and skin treatments. Women in the Java have used unripe papaya juice on their skin to try to get rid of wrinkles and old skin cells. That's right! This gorgeous fruit can help maintain youth. Papaya helps the body to produce more arginine, an essential amino acid that activates human growth hormone. HGH is necessary for cell rejuvenation and for rebuilding cells in the liver, muscles, and bones.
In addition to nutrition, papayas carry beautification applications as well as medicinal applications. The native people of South and Central American use the papaya as medicine as well. Pieces of papaya laid on wounds and surgical incisions are reported to speed up their healing. They also believe it's a remedy for weak liver (detox organ) and to effectively rid the body of worms and parasites -for those of you who enjoy raw meats and sea food.

SIMPLE APPLICATION:
The skin of the ripe papaya is not edible but can be refrigerated and later used as a face wash.

Here's Chocolate saMosa's beauty application with a papaya. And YES, you can eat this one!

The Smooth The Seductive The Versatile Avocado

CHOCOLATE KEY LIME MOUSSE
with strawberry guava sauce

Yes, it's a fruit and along with its nutritional makeup this sexy green packs a myriad of applications that even includes skin care! See how you can maintain that soft glow at http://www.queenogreens.com/2011/07/lauren-von-der-pools-raw-beauty-tip.html
Avocados, which -not so coincidentally -were called "testicle trees" by the ancient Aztecs. No surprise there!!! Open one in half and see for yourself. The folate helps give extra protection against sperm mutation. Avocados provide nearly 20 essential nutrients, including fiber, potassium, Vitamin E, B-vitamins and folic acid. They also act as a "nutrient enhancer" by enabling the body to absorb more fat-soluble nutrients, such as alpha and beta-carotene, in foods that are eaten with the fruit. What does that mean?! It means that if you combine avocados with say apricots, pumpkin, carrots, or leafy greens such as spinach, you are essentially creating your own skin care product from the inside out. How luscious is that! Once consumed, Beta-carotene can be converted into vitamin A by the body which hydrates the eyes and softens the skin.

With 3 times the amount of potassium than bananas, avocados are counted as second best source of monounsaturated fatty acids after O-LIVE oil, which contributes a great deal to aiding the body in maintaining critical health functions. For years, this fruit has been erroneously marked as a fatty food -the kind that contributes to exuberant weight gain. In fact, monounsaturated fats contained in an avocado helps to increase basal metabolic rate (the rate at which your body consumes calories), which helps suppress the appetite and curve over eating. Wuuuut??? So consuming this fat helps you lose fat. Ahhh the perfect marriage. Try not to over process this too much. Fortunately when consuming an avocado you won't have to; especially since one serving of avocado contains JUST 50 calories compared to it's more caloric spreadable counterparts like cheese and mayo. Studies show that eating foods rich in monounsaturated fats (MUFAs) improves blood cholesterol levels, which can decrease your risk of heart disease. Hmmm. Is it coincidence that the color of the heart chakra is green like the avocado? Research also shows that MUFAs may benefit insulin levels and blood sugar control, which can support a health goal of riding the body of type 2 diabetes.

painting pretty green with avocados

A true energy source, the versatile avocado provides a subtle taste that takes on both savory and sweet flavors very well. Its versatility along with its nutrition content is why i fed this fruit and quite often to my son since he began eating solids at 5 months. Guacamole isn't the only way to experience this fruit. Add volume to your shakes or smoothies, dressings to your otherwise bland greens or wraps, or even in~JOY it for dessert.

Ingredients:

Chocolate half:
1/2 organic avocado
2 Tbsp of raw cacao powder
1/4 cup of frozen blue berries (can substitute another fruit)
5 - 6 Tbsp of raw agave nectar
some cold water (use to adjust thickness)

Key Lime half:
1/2 organic avocado
2 - 3 Tbsp of key lime juice (can also use lime juice)
5 - 6 Tbsp of raw agave nectar
some cold water (use to adjust thickness)

Strawberry Guava Sauce:
4 - 5 small size strawberries or 3 large ones
1/4 cup of guava puree
3 Tbsp of raw agave (optional)

How to:

Use either a small food processor or a blender to blend each parts (chocolate, key lime, sauce) separately. Dress the plate any way you desire. It's ALL good either way!

Yo Gabba NO! There's some GAS in My Tummy!!

Let's imagine you decide to sit down to a meal and you eat spaghetti and meatballs with cheese, peanut butter crackers followed by ice berg lettuce? Bizarre i know, but some people actually eat this way! How do you suppose you'd feel afterwards? It's amazing that more than half of this country's population cannot fathom eating the proper foods in the proper order to avoid popping Tums after each meal. Now let's suppose you had some leftovers of those exact combinations mentioned before and you threw it in the trash. How long do you suppose it'll be before you begin to smell the contents of that trash? Are you screwing your face? That's because you can relate and that's a good sign. Awareness is the first step. Now how do you suppose your insides smell; especially if you're constipated?! Phew!

In addition to consuming the necessary amount of raw fruits and vegetables (at least 80%) of food intake per diam, it's also important to know when to consume them as well as food combinations to avoid while eating. If you incorporate this practice for at least 30 days, you can guarantee a more responsive digestive system and the elimination of avoidable digestive discomforts such as bloating, acid reflux, heart burn, gas, and the likes. Raw foods have enzymes. Enzymes are life-force energy; complex proteins produced by all living things. Enzymes helps eliminate toxins in the colon, kidneys, liver, lungs, and skin. That's such a BIG JOB so pay attention. If you're mixing foods, particularly raw and cooked foods in one sitting, like eating salad with beans and rice, then you are weakening the potency of the enzymes in the salad. Minimizing enzymes levels in the foods you consume forces the body to use it's limited enzyme resource. If it isn't replaced (via live foods mainly), then life force decreases and aging occurs :(

No matter what your nutrition choices are, DO follow these rules for better digestive wellness:

1. DO consume enzyme rich foods (ALL your raw and live fruits, veggies, seeds, nuts, and grains) at least 80% of the time.

2. DO consume your raw/live foods prior to a cooked meal and wait at least 20 minutes before consuming the cooked portion of your meal.

3. DO "stretch" your digestive system by drinking a glass of water at least 10 to 15 minutes before eating.

4. DO leave sugary drinks alone while eating a meal and/or immediately after.

and

5. DO make a habit of this for at least 30 consecutive days (in order for the brain to trust your new ways)

LIVER TUNE UP | DAY 1

It looks like pina~colada but i definitely taste the garlic. Oh by the way, i only used 1 garlic clove. I figured i'd work my way up to 2 cloves. So i've just downed half of the liver detox drink and i'm feeling anxious. Surprisingly the taste was pretty mild; all ingredient flavors were evenly distributed. Last night i thought of ALL the sweet, spicy, fried, decadent foods i'd want to eat catered by my good friend The Sassy Chef who makes damn good vegan soul food! I wanted everything off her menu; something like an 8 course meal but a table for 1! It was the fact that i was finally starting my cleanse and properly this time, that my brain began having a conniption at the thought of eating less and absolutely NO sugar. Well after swallowing the first of the liver tonic, i just want to do right.

DESSERT FIRST! -well sometimes | Ginger Mango Creme

I love ALL things sweet -sweet moods, sweet smiles, sweet men, and definitely sweet desserts. I often find myself wanting to treat people to good food and fortunately when i was feeling inspired, my two biggest fans were right there to sample it. So here's my take on a rich yet healthy dessert -Ginger Mango Creme.

The star of the dish (GINGER) -the SUPER FOOD that renders a myriad of health benefits. Ginger supports and maintains an overall healthy immune system. It's anti-inflammatory properties helps to settle digestive track issues and joint pains such as arthritis. Severe discomforts such as heart burns and migraines are also allayed when consumed in a tea form. Chew on raw ginger pieces for those pesky morning sickness mommas. In certain studies, ginger has even been found to slow the growth of particular cancer cells. And of course, there's the usual flu and cold symptoms, which don't stand a chance against the all mighty ginger. I once chewed on pieces of fresh (raw) ginger all day long when i felt a cold coming on. The next day, i was cured. I'm making a screw face but i do love what ginger has to offer. Even in this dessert, the ginger renders the ultimate health benefit -feeling happy. Happiness is the cure to all sickness.

Ingredients:

1. 2 cups of plain coconut milk yogurt
2. 1 1/2 cup of frozen organic mangoes (can be pre-purchased or you can dice fresh mangoes and freeze them for later use)
3. 1 tbsp of minced ginger
4. 1 tsp of fresh lemon juice
5. 1 kiwi (peeled and cored)
6. slice of lemon for garnish
6. dash of cayenne pepper (optional BUT a great stimulator!)

How to:

Combine coconut milk yogurt, frozen mangoes, minced ginger, lemon juice in a blender, food processor, or Vita-Mix until smooth. Peel and core the kiwi. Pour the smooth mixture into your serving dish. Scoop some of the mixture into the center of the cored kiwi and gently place it down into the yogurt mix. Garnish with slice of lemon and sprinkle cayenne pepper on top. Simple and quick. In-JOY!

Stream line & Alkalize | The Recipe for the Ultimate Liver Cleanse!

The Recipe for the Ultimate Liver Cleanse!

Serves 2

  • 2 large grapefruits
  • 4 lemons
  • 1 1/4 cups of distilled water (or filtered)
  • 2 tbsp of cold pressed flax oil
  • 1 teaspoon of acidophilus
  • 1-2 cloves of fresh garlic
  • 2 inches of fresh root ginger
  • Optional: a dash of cayenne pepper! (my fave)

Directions

  1. Squeeze the juice of the grapefruit and lemon into a blender
  2. Next, grate the garlic and the ginger, and then using a garlic press, squeeze this into the juice
  3. Now add the water, flax oil and acidophilus powder and blend for 30 seconds
  4. Add more ginger/garlic to taste
Why the liver? The liver is the body's main detox center and so i want to begin here to ease the transition of detoxing the body. This process will be an experiment; a well thought out experiment, and a beginning to my own personal detox prescriptions. I am in great need of a cleanse and YOUR support will get me through this!! I need hand holding y'all! I'll be documenting my findings with precise details.

Why these ingredients? This juice contains all of the most potent liver cleansing ingredients, and gives your liver a gentle flush and the opportunity to heal itself. It contains powerful heavy hitters such as vitamin C, omega 3, probiotics (regulates proper intestinal flora), digestive remedies, and anti-carcinogen elements. There are NO abnormal side effects to this drink. However you may want to have some mint handy to help tone down that garlic-breath. LOTS of it.

<<<<>>>>

1. Do this detox over the course of a weekend or if you're self-employed like me, whenever you can be close to home :)
2. Releasing toxins from the body is best supported when you include physical activity. So prior to drinking the liver tonic, move ya body. Even if it's just a brisk walk.
3. Mindful deep breathing exercises may also prove to be helpful to invigorate your lymphatic system, which connects to all systems in the body. Breath deep into those systems. Exhale the toxins OUT! Follow the drink with mindful breathing.

Dining in the RAW

Tonight's dinner: Raw Ginger Kale Chip & Sunflower Pate. In my last post i wrote about recalibrating my meal size and eating smaller portions with the idea of establishing a better food discipline. So far i'm off to a good start -again. The truth is, i've lost count on how many times i've had to hit the reset button on this project. There, i told on myself. But today was a good one. Arugula & fruit smoothie for breakfast, salad for lunch, and another raw plate for dinner. As with before, after eating dinner, i felt satisfied, even, balanced. The only reason why i would go for more is because my food tastes good!!! Therein lies the problem or rather the challenge. Consume less even when the food created tastes so damn good you'd rather be a pig. Excuse me, i digress. I am just here to report on myself. My prognosis is steady. Good intention. Good food. Good discipline. So if you want to try this at home, here's what you'll need:

Pate:

2 cups raw sunflower seeds (soaked for 1 hr)
2 tsp fresh lemon juice
1 tsp sea salt (Pink Himalayan)
1 tsp cayenne pepper
2 tbsp red onion (finely chopped)
1 stalk scallions
1/2 cup nutritional yeast
1 tbsp of finely minced fresh garlic
1/2 tsp of cumin

Instruction: combine all above ingredients into a food processor and mix until mixture resembles a paste. make into patties to your desired size.

*NOTE* may have to adjust taste to your liking by adding either a bit more salt or other spice. just remember to add a little at a time.

Ginger vinaigrette:

2 tbsp of red wine vinegar
1 tbsp of minced ginger
1 tbsp of cold pressed flax oil
1 tbsp of raw honey (or raw agave nectar)
dash of your favorite spicy seasoning

Instruction: combine the vinaigrette ingredients and whisk. use it on the side or to drizzle over completed dish.

Raw kale chip:

1 kale leaf massaged very very gently under luke warm water for about 5 min. simple. oh and it helps if you sing to the kale while massaging it to infuse loving energy into the food :).

*****dress the plate however way you desire*****

YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT, N'EST PAS?

I'm thinking about eating food and it's quarter to 12 at night. I'm also thinking that if i had a man, i'd be in bed right now (momentary thought). But instead, i'm thinking about my long TO DO list and eating fattening sugary foods. I won't though. This has me thinking about how obsessed we are with eating. We eat mindlessly to fill a void in most cases. So it has me thinking about building a personal discipline around food intake. Most people look at me and just assume i eat right all the time and that i work out often. I don't. I'm blessed with genes that work for me, but in order to maintain that i have to make food my medicine. I have to eat to live. I'm realizing that those nasty habits like eating just because, are more challenging to STOP the older i get. As part of my Food As Medicine Campaign, i will begin my personal quest with first, finding the cure to tame my sugar addiction. And second, decreasing my food intake for each meal that i eat. I'm looking for balance and clarity. I know this is how i'll find it. Follow along.

((((((((((:TASTE THE RAINBOW:))))))))))

Chef Claiborne of Chocolate SaMosa gives a colorful healthy eating demonstration at Capitol Hill Day School. The message of the moment -incorporating colors into our daily nutrition to enhance and maintain vibrancy, alertness, and stamina. Of course all that was said in children's language -make sure you eat all the colors of the rainbow so that you can become SUPER KIDS!!! Prior to the presentation, one child informed me that kids don't eat the foods i had to share. By the end of the presentation, kids were lining up to sample a sprig of cilantro. It's always fun interfacing with children. They're so filled with stories and liveliness.

Such inquisitive little minds. They too had something to share with me.
Sampling cilantro. Makes me smile :D

Sliced Watermelon Topped with Rainbow Salsa in Ginger Citrus Dressing. Taste the rainbow!!

Back to Basics

What's fresh, dark, and firm? This post is ALL about the greens baby!! Today i woke up with heaviness and after a good cry i felt like i needed to inject myself with everything pleasant. Pleasant music, pleasant dancing, pleasant thoughts, pleasant foods. Pleasant music. Check! Pleasant food. Check! I have yet to arrive on the dance floor and then of course when i do, all thoughts will cease and eventually will become laced with aligned intention once the dance subsides and the thoughts return. SO onto the food. I wanted to write this post to share with you all what my greens told me as i was washing them. Yes i said it. Food speaks to me and that is why we have good relations. Anyway, as i was washing my kale, feeling heavy and sad, it said "be gentle with me, massage me softly, and hey, smile while you're at it." Midway into making my super raw kale i felt a shift -a very clear shift. As i massaged my kale and added my spices and watched it soften between my fingers, i also began to feel lighter, softer, and more pleasant. I was smiling before i had finished my dish. I was even humming.<<>> Now some may be thinking how the heck is kale pleasant? Yes i am aware that it doesn't fulfill the 'comfort food' requirement, which is what i want to feel right? But really folks, who really feels comforting after eating 'comfort foods'? The kale also told me that i need to be consuming it every day. Hmmm. I wonder how many different ways i can dress these sharp greens up? Today was your regular 'garden salad' kale dressed with olive oil, lemon juice, fresh garlic, cayenne, Himalayan pink salt, turmeric, and a little nutritional yeast. Kale is a super food low in saturated fat and cholesterol. It's packed with nutrition some of which include fiber, protein, folate, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, vitamin A, C, K, and B6, Calcium, Potassium, Copper, and Manganese. One food. Multiple medicinal use. This alkaline goodness is going to save me, somehow. So basically if you eat this everyday for at least 3 consecutive months, you'll be treating yourself to an A-List of nutritional luv'n. And this people is why i need to make my living making spanking good food for you. It's my pleasure to serve you. You in turn are receiving that pleasure. And all is right with the world!

Funky Four

The close of day 4 is near. I'm tired. I'm achy. I have an attitude. Grrrrr. That is all!

CILANTRO. Fresh. Clean. Green.

This aromatic and amazingly flavorful herb is known to remove heavy metals and toxins from the body. Cilantro. My new best friend -again!

Testing Tasting 123

Ok so I wasn’t going to tell on myself trying to be the crowd pleaser. But, I did it. I ate a biscuit. It was vegan. It was my creation. It was GREAT! But those are not the reasons I am sharing this post with you. After 3 whole days of consuming only raw foods, the pleasure of consuming a biscuit wasn’t so pleasurable. Even before I swallowed the last bit of the biscuit, I felt as if I were chewing raw dough. To tell you the truth, once it's in your mouth, it’s not too far from it. I was chewing and thinking to myself ‘I may as well be chewing raw dough’. Almost immediately after, I was passing gas and spitting out mucus. I think it’s accurate to say that I ate a ball of mucus. Sounds nasty doesn’t it? Well, that’s exactly what it becomes once consumed. It also breaks down to a simple sugar, which eventually is stored as fat if not burned off. Along with the top heavy hitters Candida, eczema, and constipation, mucus is a major contributor to overall decline in body wellness. So was it worth it? YES! First hand experience and direct results is pretty persuasive in making decisive decisions. The amazing part was being the silent witness to my own process. Watching myself do it as if I had no control over my actions. Yes. It was exactly like that. That’s the addiction –not stopping yourself when you know it’s not for you to begin with. Clear out mucus. Welcome forth hydration. Detox through juicing is on the horizon followed by refreshing rejuvenation recipes. Stay tuned.

Withdrawing From Withdrawals

Man i want a biscuit, veggie stir fry with brown rice, some peanut butter!!! I don't care what it is as long as it's cooked. LOL. I would say that 99.9% of my thoughts today have been centered on eating odd combinations of various cooked foods just for the hell of it. Two activities make my second day consuming only raw foods pretty challenging -feeding my toddler cooked foods made by yours truly and shopping at the Co-op. Fortunately for me, i had plenty things to cross off my TO DO LIST. So with only 2 days into my detox and raw food journey, i begin to notice a few things. First, my thoughts are consumed by consuming cooked foods; mostly starchy sugary foods. I hear voices (you know what i mean) telling me that licking the left over peanut butter off the spoon isn't so bad and finishing my son's lunch is better than being wasteful. Sigh. Being mindful of my thoughts was like pressing the rewind button on a cassette player too numerous to count. When i did eat however, i took my time in order to take in less food. Afterwards i felt balanced and my need for rest was due to another cause than contracting the itis. Not surprising to me, i am no more or no less tired than what i usually am. I have major detoxing to do. Before i am able to immediately feel the amazing effects of raw and living foods/drinks then i must prepare my body through detox. Period. I also notice that i am barely farting. There's a surprise, lol. I notice that even though i'm not doing too well on my water intake, my mouth isn't dry. And lastly, i am not spitting out mucus every 10 minutes or so. Again, no surprise there. If you knew me, you'd be proud of me. In my past experiences, each time i decide i'm going to do a cleanse, I'm usually sneaking in something for one inessential reason or another and the cycle continues. I need to feel, see, and know the person i can be under the nurturing influences of living foods. Day 3 here i come!

Detox Journey | Day I & II

Well, i made it through day 1. I wonder if it's the easiest day because that's when the intention
is being fulfilled. Day 2 is before me and i'm wondering HOW i'm going to do this while having
to prepare cooked foods for my toddler. And yummy food at that. Well i suppose i can give him raw foods as well, but i haven't yet set up my raw food laboratory to fill his buddha belly. So water, tea, fruits, and salads it is. You know the funny thing about this is that many people just assume that i'm healthier than most because my language reflects that of a healthy food fanatic and movement enthusiast. Even though i do support healthy living, i don't practice it regularly. There are a few reasons driving my will to proceed.
  • I want to discipline my thoughts -mind over matter.
  • I want to feel relaxed and flexible in my spirit, mind, and body.
  • I want to kick my sugar addiction.
  • People want and need my services and expertise. I want to know first hand what i'm prescribing to my clients through daily practice.
You become what you eat. Let food be your medicine. Medicine is for healing.

The Body Talks

When you fart, do you find yourself running away from it or wanting to? Well, the stench came from inside of your body. Think about that for a moment. Did you get a good whiff? How would you enjoy walking around smelling like the fart that came from inside of you on the outside? YIKES! And if your fart smells that bad, then your bowel movement isn’t too far from it. DOUBLE YIKES!! Please pay attention!!! This is your body’s way of speaking out. It's is a signal. A red flag. A call for help that something toxic is occurring in your body. Imagine an overflow of hot, sticky, and smelly trash in your kitchen. More than likely, you'd take the time to notice, eliminate, and sanitize it to begin anew.

Why am i writing this post? Because i need someone or something in my corner cheering me on as i move forward with my detox and raw food journey. It's going to be my e-spiration for getting my act together. I also love to share my culinary pizzas with all of you and so this way you can tune in, learn, and hopefully also become inspired to STOP plugging your systems with processed, acidic, and indigestible foods. I am a fledgling with much to learn. Let the healing begin!
