Let's imagine you decide to sit down to a meal and you eat spaghetti and meatballs with cheese, peanut butter crackers followed by ice berg lettuce? Bizarre i know, but some people actually eat this way! How do you suppose you'd feel afterwards? It's amazing that more than half of this country's population cannot fathom eating the proper foods in the proper order to avoid popping Tums after each meal. Now let's suppose you had some leftovers of those exact combinations mentioned before and you threw it in the trash. How long do you suppose it'll be before you begin to smell the contents of that trash? Are you screwing your face? That's because you can relate and that's a good sign. Awareness is the first step. Now how do you suppose your insides smell; especially if you're constipated?! Phew!
In addition to consuming the necessary amount of raw fruits and vegetables (at least 80%) of food intake per diam, it's also important to know when to consume them as well as food combinations to avoid while eating. If you incorporate this practice for at least 30 days, you can guarantee a more responsive digestive system and the elimination of avoidable digestive discomforts such as bloating, acid reflux, heart burn, gas, and the likes. Raw foods have enzymes. Enzymes are life-force energy; complex proteins produced by all living things. Enzymes helps eliminate toxins in the colon, kidneys, liver, lungs, and skin. That's such a BIG JOB so pay attention. If you're mixing foods, particularly raw and cooked foods in one sitting, like eating salad with beans and rice, then you are weakening the potency of the enzymes in the salad. Minimizing enzymes levels in the foods you consume forces the body to use it's limited enzyme resource. If it isn't replaced (via live foods mainly), then life force decreases and aging occurs :(
No matter what your nutrition choices are, DO follow these rules for better digestive wellness:
1. DO consume enzyme rich foods (ALL your raw and live fruits, veggies, seeds, nuts, and grains) at least 80% of the time.
2. DO consume your raw/live foods prior to a cooked meal and wait at least 20 minutes before consuming the cooked portion of your meal.
3. DO "stretch" your digestive system by drinking a glass of water at least 10 to 15 minutes before eating.
4. DO leave sugary drinks alone while eating a meal and/or immediately after.
and
5. DO make a habit of this for at least 30 consecutive days (in order for the brain to trust your new ways)
